The end result, 12 Songs, ended up being one of Diamond's most successful and critically acclaimed studio albums in years, debuting at #4 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Rubin's influence would extend beyond the recording sessions, as the subsequent tour behind the album found Diamond using tougher-sounding arrangements of his classic songs with his longtime backing band, and playing more guitar onstage than he had done since the Hot August Night era.

The singer Rahill is best-known to some for her work in the Brooklyn garage-rock group Habibi. But this week she drops her debut solo album, a collection of genre-hopping songs that are as danceable as they are idiosyncratic. On this week's show we give a listen to Flowers At Your Feet and talk about the ways Rahill crafts deeply honest music and taps into deep emotions without taking life too seriously.

Like a snitch that won't identify a culprit by name, but will tell anyone listening where they live and when they'll be there, Taylor Swift is very descriptive with her songs. The country pop darling has become known for writing songs about the ghosts of boyfriends past. Now fresh off of a breakup with One Direction's Harry Styles, it's time to play a familiar game: Which song is about Taylor's ex? We plowed through some of Swift's biggest hits and matched the lyrics to 10 of Swift's high-profile reported former relationships. Look and listen.

What likely began as a sweet 2010 summer connection ended on a sour note and, of course, in song (or, more likely, several songs). At 19, Swift seemed to think that John should have treated the delicate country flower with a little bit more care. Shrewdly entitling the cut after Mr. Mayer's first name, she spewed out lines like, "Don't you think I was too young to be messed with? The girl in the dress cried the whole way home. I should've known." Geez, that's heavy.

Taylor and Zac Efron reportedly started dating for a few months while promoting their movie "The Lorax" in the first part of 2011. Both deny the rumors, however, and it doesn't seem like Efron was attached to any of the songs on "Red." The pair did write a song about their relationship, denying the dating rumors through a parody of Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks" on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show.

Many artists have performed songs in this time signature. It's one that sounds incredible on ballads, but also can be the basis for some awesome grooves in mid- and up-tempo songs. The easiest way to recognize 12/8 is if the main pulse is a nice steady 1-2-3-4, but the sub-pulse of each beat consists of a 1-2-3.

12/8 is a fantastic time signature. It gives you the best of both worlds. Thousands of songs have been written in this meter, so it's time for you to try writing in it as well! It's a super useful tool to have in your songwriting toolbox. You'll be surprised how much it can change the groove of your song and make it flow differently. So if you've been suffering from "it all sounds the same" syndrome, take 12/8 for a spin and see what it can do for you.

This past August we once again worked with the Montauk Lighthouse Historical Society to raise money

for the many projects they are responsible for with the upkeep of the site. The Wallflower Concert was a successful fundraising effort. The crowd sat on the hill of the natural amphitheater facing the ocean, in the shadow of the magnificent Montauk Lighthouse. The weather was perfect, a big change from the summer of 2021 pre-hurricane concert, with a gorgeous sunset and full moon rising over the tower. Jessica Lynn kicked off the evening with her beautiful country rock voice. She was followed by Jakob Dillon and the band taking the stage to entertain the audience with their songs, as well as a few from Tom Petty. What a wonderful evening! Stay tuned for updates about 2023 concerts.

Little did I know, or could I tell, that this was his first live performance in front of an audience. He has been on the Doc Mason Radio Show on PCR as well as a guest of BBC Introducing but yet to put himself in front of a crowd. I only found out this information the following day, wanting as I was to find his music and make the requisite social media connections. If he seemed shy between songs it merely added charm and it soon dissipated each time he began playing.
