Restaurant recommendations will mainly focus on local businesses, mostly downtown yet also some well-known ones around Chico!
Only a two-minute walk from the Performing Arts Center, Madison Bear Garden is a Chico staple. They offer a lot of bar food, including burgers, sandwiches, salads, and other fried appetizers. Offering a full bar, fun/exciting decor, and very reasonably priced food, it's always a great option for people trying to grab a quick bite or just hang out! Since this restaurant's opening in 1977, it has been a staple for college students, alumni, and visitors alike.
Crush, located downtown is a slightly pricier option for those interested in a more elegant, Italian dining experience. Only a ten minute walk from the Performing Arts Center, located downtown, this restaurant is beloved by many for their delicious and locally sourced ingredients. Again, offering a full bar, this restaurant located on the second floor of its building a delicious dinner option for those who are interested.
Located two miles from the Chico State campus, Sierra Nevada Brewery is yet ANOTHER staple Chico has to offer. Brewing up some of your favorite beer (if you're of age to drink) and a very wide variety of food (mostly American/Bar) you'll never go hungry if you get a meal here. Sierra Nevada Brewery is known for its delicious food, offers brewery tours, and even a gift shop to remember your experience by!
Offering some delicious, comforting Mexican food, Tres Hombres is only a 2 minute walk from the Performing Arts Center. You can never go wrong with some delicious, warm, filling Mexican food, and its vicinity to campus is amazing. With amazing ambiance, this is definitely a great place to try if you've never eaten here before.
If you can't tell, there's a lot of restaurants that are very close to our campus. Only a three-minute walk away from the Performing Arts Center, Mom's is a delicious breakfast and lunch restaurant. Offering a giant array of food typically offered for breakfast/lunch/brunch, you could never go wrong with Mom's.
Offering authentic Indian food, Goji's Cafe is an amazing dining option for those who are more into the "ethnic food" scene. This restaurant offers delicious, warm, comforting meals at a reasonable price, and is a very safe option for those who enjoy Indian food. Only a three-minute walk from campus!
This restaurant is slightly different, as it is a whopping FIVE-MINUTE Walk from campus, differing from the two-to-three-minute walks we've been encountering downtown. With an extensive beer selection, and some delicious American bar menu, this is always a great choice with even better ambiance.
Offering authentic Pakistani food and being the only business in Chico offered on TooGoodToGo (if you don't recognize that app, do check it out) Sofi'z Kitchen is a delicious, filling, and always a warm meal. Offered for lunch and dinner- only two minutes from the Performing Arts Center- this restaurant is one that you must try, especially if you haven't had Pakistani food before, only if you want to go a little bit outside of your comfort zone. It has mild-to-medium spice on most dishes but is always delicious.
