Whether you are travelling from as far as another continent or from as close as Seattle, if you have never been to this part of the world, you are in for a treat! This is one of the most beautiful places on earth! And having access to a portion of Puget Sound provides a multitude of things to do all year round. You can enjoy kayaking or paddle boarding in beautiful Chico Bay, a walk on the beach, or birdwatching right from your backyard. You're also only a few minutes away from Silverdale, WA, a small town with all the big-name stores and places to eat. You can catch a movie there, do some shopping, or have a nice meal. We're even close enough to walk (< 5 minutes) to a wonderful nearby coffee shop (M&T Coffee). See the section on restaurants for some of our favorites.
If you venture out by car, you're less than 2 hours away from the world-renown Olympic National Park. Or if you have never been to Seattle, downtown (and all of its famous attractions) is only a little over an hour away. The Washington State Ferry system is the largest in the United States, and second largest in the world. If you have the time, a ferry ride-- any of them-- offers breathtaking views during the crossing and is well worth the modest price. We've included a list of some of our favorite places to visit in the sections below.
If you're feeling adventurous, there are many hiking trails nearby. Consult Washington Trails Association for great hiking in the area: www.wta.org
Silverdale has many options for grocery shopping including Safeway, Trader Joes, Target, Sprouts (organic), Grocery Outlet and Costco. All of these are less than 10 minutes away by car.
