What is Space?
How has the space of Chichin Itza changed?
El Castillo
The Great Ball Court
-Mayan sports games also appeared to be a soccer-sized ball that had huge competitions for large crowds of spectators.
-It is one of the largest ever found and details of this game and the rules are displayed in carvings.
-Found in one telling of these games is a carving of a team captain losing the game and the team beheading him (1)
The North Temple
Was once known as the Temple of Bearded Man which was located adjacent to the Great Ball Court and has carvings of a bearded man figure.
The Steam Bath
It was once operated by heated stones and is now a water bath replica and steam chamber.
Temple of Warriors
Resembles the Chichen Itza as a stepped pyramid.
-This sacred well also was used as an astronomical Observatory where Chac Mool figures and sculptures are shown carved to have served as an altar for sacrifices.
-Also is known as the Temple of the Thousand Columns where paintings on the outdoor pillars have almost all disappeared but inside the colors of paintings are bright and appear to have been restored well (1)
