The Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT) PanSIG 2025 Conference was held on May 17–18 at Kanda University of International Studies (神田外語大学) in Chiba. This year’s theme was “Agency & Autonomy in Language Learning.”
I presented a session titled “Empowering EAP Writers: Writer-Centered Prompt Design with LLMs,” which explored effective strategies for designing prompts in Large Language Model (LLM)-supported English for Academic Purposes (EAP) writing. The presentation emphasized a writer-centered and ethical approach, demonstrating how prompts tailored with specific rhetorical strategies—across the pre-writing, during-writing, and post-writing stages—can enhance learner agency, foster critical thinking, and support more empowered academic writing.
