My current research merges Data Science and Social Science to combine prediction and explanation. I discuss the prediction/explanation framework in a research note titled "Building Better Theories Through Prediction and Explanation", which is available upon request. I presented the framework with applications in my lecture at SICCS-Lake Como 2025.
The research questions that I am currently investigating can be grouped into two main areas.
1. Artificial Intelligence:
"Mapping Women’s Contributions to Artificial Intelligence Using Large-Scale Text Analysis", with A. Jogalekar and F. Memari.
"Patients’ Perceptions of AI Use in Health Care" with M. Macis and L. Sartori.
"Disruption or Augmentation? The Changing Demand for AI Skills in the Age of Generative AI" with T. Luca, G. Marconi and L. Vergolini.
"Predict to Explain" with M. Loveless (under submission)
"Building Better Theories Through Prediction and Explanation", with J. Peterson, S. Huang and B. Tamer.
"AI and Job Insecurity: Winners and Losers" with A. Rebecchi, M. Bia, and C. d'Ambrosio.
2. Climate Change:
"Using Machine Learning to Measure Climate Change Awareness" with O. Kvist, S. Luck, and E. Vera-Valdés. .
"Living With Floods Without Being Prepared: Experimental Evidence from Italy" with C. Puglisi, I. Palazzoli, S. Ceola, and R. Muttarak.
