• Measured anisotropic atomic vibrations with deep sub-angstrom electron ptychography

• Characterized anisotropic phase transition and moiré reconstructions of 2D materials using in situ TEM

• Developed workflow combining automated acquisition, CycleGAN, and deep learning-enabled defect identification for atom-by-atom analysis of STEM experiments on the million-atom scale

• Measured and visualized the oscillating strain field around single-atom defects in 2D materials with sub-pm precision

High-quality, large-domain graphene growth with oxygen-assisted CVD and UHVCVD 2012 - 2016

• Designed and built a multifunctional Ultra-High Vacuum Chemical Vapor Deposition system

• Synthesized graphene on atomic-flat, high-quality nickel silicide substrates (Ni2Si, NiSi, NiSi2)

• Reduced the nucleation density of graphene grown on Cu by 1000 times with oxide passivating layer and increased the carrier mobility by a factor of 6
