CHHS DECA Chapter Advisors: Tene Manning and Rona Williams
Since being reinstated in the 2016-17 school year, the Collins Hill DECA Chapter has grown by leaps and bounds! Every year, we have had competitors compete against students from across the county, state and around the world in the DECA Regionals, State and International Competitions. Achieving over 100 members in school year 2018-2019, the Collins Hill DECA has since continued to made it's mark on campus. Living up to our school motto, "Growing leaders through Scholarship, Service, and Spirit", the Collins Hill Chapter has made it a point to be a strong presence within the community,
Bringing community service initiatives and programs to campus such as:
Teens in the Driver's Seat, which presents the dangers of driving under the influence and reckless driving to teens taking driver's education classes on campus.
Valentines Goodie Bags for the adolescent patients at the Children's Hospital of Atlanta at Scottish Rite
Volunteering within our Collins Hill cluster at Walnut Grove Elementary and Creekland Middle Schools
Volunteering at the Lawrenceville
The Career Development Project uses the project management process to promote/educate the knowledge and skills needed for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, management and entrepreneurship.
In collaboration with Ms. Kimberly Geter, the NEW College and Career Specialist, our Chapter hosted a 'Grownish' Fashion Show where we showcased professional and appropriate looks for a variety of interviews such as college entrance, internships and apprenticeships. The objectives of the event were to showcase professional looks to better prepare students for the future as well as introduce and connect Juniors and Seniors with Ms. Geter to begin scheduling initial meetings.
At State this year, our students Yeng Heu and Riley Dorsey placed within them top 10 with their presentation and Yeng will be competing at ICDC in Orlando this year.
