Dr. Chetana Baliga is a researcher in antimicrobial resistance and peptide therapeutics. She completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois Chicago, USA, focusing on ribosome-targeting antimicrobial peptides. She earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, where she studied protein sequence–structure–function relationships.
As a DBT-Ramalingaswami Fellow, her research explores the biology and therapeutic potential of proline-rich antimicrobial peptides, mechanisms of bacterial resistance, and the development of next-generation antimicrobials. Through an interdisciplinary approach spanning microbiology, molecular biology and computational approaches she aims to address global challenges posed by antimicrobial resistance.
