CB lab is a vibrant group and our research is driven by PhD scholars, PG and UG dissertation students and several UG interns.

Chetana Baliga

Dr. Chetana Baliga is a researcher in antimicrobial resistance and peptide therapeutics, currently working as Assistant Professor at the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences. She earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, where she studied protein sequence–structure–function relationships, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Illinois Chicago, USA, focusing on ribosome-targeting antimicrobial peptides.

Apart from doing research, she greatly enjoys teaching, experimenting with innovative approaches in the classroom. She also loves quizzing, reading murder mysteries and listening to music.

Srujana Varsha Raj

Srujana did her BSc from Mount Carmel college, Bangalore, followed by MSc in Medical Biotechnology from MAHE, Manipal. For her PhD, Srujana is exploring activity of Api and its homologs against MDR Gram negatives, and working on variants with enhanced uptake and expanded spectrum of activity.

Rakshitha R.

Rakshitha did her BSc from SDM college, Mysore, followed by MSc in Molecular and cellular biology, from RUAS, Bangalore. After doing her MSc dissertation in CB lab, Rakshitha has stayed on for her PhD and is identifying and characterizing novel AMPs from Neem (Azadirachta indica).

Hitha Muthirakkal

Hitha did her BSc (Biotechnology Hons with research) from RUAS, Bangalore. After two successful summer internships and BSc dissertation in CB lab, Hitha has joined the lab as a Project Assistant in the ANRF project, where in she is working on the PrAMP PR-39, exploring its uptake, stability, and activity against MDR Gram negative bacteria, along with evaluating its toxicity profile .

Aishwarya Kulkarni

Aishwarya is in her BSc 3rd year, and is interning in the lab, working on peptide uptake transporters of bacteria

Anas Ahmed

Anas is in his BSc 2nd year, and is interning in the lab, working on structure guided drug design, in collaboration with Dr. Rik Ganguly and Dr. Aurosikha Das

Aditya

Aditya is in his BSc 2nd year, and did his summer internship in the lab, learning techniques of molecular cloning and recombineering.

Abhishikta Bannerjee Toshani Dhar

Abhishikta and Toshani are in their MSc (MCB) 2nd year, and doing their Group project in CB lab, on the recombinant expression and puriifcation of Neem Defensins

Lekhana Roshani

Abhishikta and Toshani are in their MSc (MCB) 2nd year, and doing their Group project in CB lab, on the drug efflux pumps of gram negative bacteria

Manith Sai Lahari

Manith and Sai Lahari are in their MSc (BT) 2nd year, and doing their Group project in CB lab, on the host defense peptides of Basil
