Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a pressing global challenge. With infections failing to respond to available antibiotics, there is an urgent need to discover novel methods to tackle them. At the CB Lab, we are committed to advancing the understanding AMR, and exploring host-defense peptides or antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), as potential solutions to this crisis.

What do we do?
Unraveling mechanisms of action of short AMPs that enter bacteria, inhibit cellular processes and kill them
Decipher their sequence-structure-function relationships, and design novel variants with enhanced efficacy
Discover new AMPs from diverse animal and plant sources using multi-omics approaches and characterise them
Rational design of novel AMPs for tackling MDR pathogens from clinical isolates
