Residents and staff at Chestnut Lodge enjoyed a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day this March with a variety of creative and themed activities throughout the home.
Books and storytelling can spark memories, encourage conversation, and bring people together, so we wanted to make the day as fun and engaging as possible for everyone involved. Throughout the celebration, residents chatted about favourite childhood books, stories they had read to their own families, and characters they remembered over the years.
One of the highlights of the day was creating colourful Elmer the Elephant arts and crafts, which residents especially loved taking part in. The activity encouraged creativity, laughter, and plenty of teamwork, while adding lots of bright colours and cheerful decorations around the home.
Alongside arts and crafts, residents also enjoyed listening to stories, discussing well-known books, and spending time together in a relaxed and sociable environment. Activities like these are a lovely way to encourage engagement, support wellbeing, and promote meaningful interaction within the home.
At Chestnut Lodge, we always aim to provide activities that are inclusive, enjoyable, and tailored to the interests of our residents. Celebrating events such as World Book Day helps create a warm, stimulating atmosphere where residents can socialise, reminisce, and enjoy shared experiences together.
