Chestnut Lodge was proud to recently take part in a webinar on Wednesday 29th April to discuss our experiences of using GP Connect within care homes as part of an important digital healthcare pilot.
Since September 2025, our very own Dawn and Emma have been involved in a project led by Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria, supporting the adoption of digital technologies within care homes to help improve resident care and communication between healthcare services.
A key focus of the pilot was the use of GP Connect, an NHS England initiative that allows authorised health and social care professionals to securely access relevant GP medical records. This can help improve communication between services, support quicker decision-making, reduce delays, and ensure residents receive the right care at the right time.
During the webinar, we had the opportunity to speak about how digital tools like GP Connect can positively impact care home settings and support staff in delivering more informed, responsive care. Being involved in projects like this allows us to continue learning, improving, and embracing new ways to support our residents while maintaining the warm, personal approach that is so important to us at Chestnut Lodge.
We are grateful to have been invited to participate in this pilot and proud to contribute and advocate for the future of digital innovation within social care.
If you would like to have a listen yourself, the webinars will be available on their website at https://healthinnovationnenc.org.uk/event/gp-connect-masterclass-for-care-homes-social-care-staff/ and https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/connected-digital-care-home-series-4813160. At a future date the case studies will be published, which we can't wait to share!
