Chess Tamerlane (“Timur Chess,” “we,” “our,” or “the App”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, your rights regarding that information, and how it is protected. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.
To provide cloud saving and multiplayer features, we use Firebase Authentication. We may collect:
• Email Address: Used for account management and recovery.
• Name / Profile Information: If you sign in via Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple, we may access your basic profile information (name, email address, and profile picture) as permitted by your account settings.
• Password: If you sign up via email/password, your password is encrypted and handled securely by Firebase. We do not store or see your raw password.
Our App includes in-app purchases and a Workshop subscription. We do not process or store your financial information (e.g., credit card numbers). All payment transactions are handled securely by Google Play Billing (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS). We only receive a transaction receipt to validate your purchase.
Workshop Subscription Products:
• Craftsman — workshop_premium_monthly (Monthly Subscription): Grants access to all premium Workshop features and a bonus of 500 in-game coins every month.
• Legacy — workshop_premium_yearly (Annual Subscription): Grants access to all premium Workshop features; 500 in-game coins are awarded every month while the subscription is active.
Applicable prices, inclusive of local taxes, are always displayed in the relevant app store. Prices may change; the current price is always available on the store listing.
The Workshop feature allows you to create custom chess variants. If you choose to publish a variant to the Community Gallery:
• Your display name and the variant content become publicly visible to all App users and are stored in our Firebase Firestore database.
• Variants saved locally to your device (not published) are stored only in your device’s local storage and are not accessible by us or other users.
⚠ Publishing to the gallery is always your voluntary choice. Locally saved variants remain entirely private.
When you use online features, your display name or username may be visible to other players in the same room or on the leaderboard. Room codes and connection status data are transmitted to facilitate gameplay.
• Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and language setting.
• Network Information: IP address and connection status.
• Advertising ID: We may use your device’s Advertising ID to serve personalized advertisements via Google AdMob.
• Authentication: To create your account and verify your identity via email, Google, or Apple.
• Gameplay Features: To save your progress, stats, game history, and preferences to the cloud.
• Community Features: To display your variants and username in the Community Gallery and multiplayer sessions.
• Purchases & Subscriptions: To process and validate purchases and active subscriptions, and to manage your subscription tier status (Explorer / Craftsman / Legacy).
• Monthly Coin Bonus: To track your subscription status locally in order to award 500 in-game coins every 30 days to active premium subscribers.
• Advertising: To display relevant advertisements via Google AdMob. You may opt out of personalized ads (see Section 6).
• App Functionality & Improvement: To ensure the App functions correctly and to analyze usage patterns via Firebase Analytics.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:
• Contractual Necessity: Processing required to provide the App’s core features and manage subscriptions.
• Legitimate Interests: Analytics and app improvement.
• Consent: Personalized advertising via AdMob. You may withdraw consent at any time.
• Legal Obligation: Where required by applicable law.
We use trusted third-party services that may collect and process data in accordance with their own privacy policies:
• Google Play Services & Apple App Store — Core app infrastructure and secure payment processing.
• Firebase Authentication — Identity and login management.
• Firebase Firestore & Analytics — Cloud data storage and usage analytics.
• Google AdMob — Advertisement display.

• Account Data: Retained until you delete your account.
• Subscription Status: Stored locally on your device; cleared when the subscription expires or the account is deleted.
• Cloud Game Data: Retained until you delete your account or the specific content.
• Analytics Data: Retained in aggregated, anonymized form.
• Local Device Data: Stored on your device only, never transmitted to us. Deleted when you uninstall the App.
Upon account deletion, your Firebase Authentication record and associated Firestore data are permanently removed within 30 days.
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. Users who have purchased "Remove Ads" or hold an active Workshop subscription (Craftsman or Legacy) will not see any advertisements.
• Android: Go to Settings → Google → Ads and enable "Opt out of Ads Personalization," or reset your Advertising ID.
• iOS: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking and disable permission for Chess Tamerlane, or go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising to turn off Personalized Ads.
⚠ In regions requiring consent under GDPR (EEA/UK), the App will display a consent prompt via Google UMP before showing personalized ads. You may change your preference via the App’s Settings.
Our App is operated using Google Firebase services, whose servers are primarily located in the United States. Google LLC participates in and complies with the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Depending on your location, you may have the rights to Access, Rectification, Erasure, Data Portability, Restriction, and Withdrawal of Consent. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at matetamerlanechess@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
• How: Go to the Profile menu inside the App and select “Delete Account.”
• Result: This action permanently removes your Firebase Authentication record and all associated cloud data within 30 days.
• Local Data: Locally stored data must be cleared manually by uninstalling the App.
⚠ Deleting your account does not automatically refund in-app purchases or cancel active subscriptions. Please refer to Google Play’s or the Apple App Store’s policies for purchase-related issues.
Chess Tamerlane is a general-audience game. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA) without verifiable parental consent. Account creation requires the user to be at least 13 years of age. If we inadvertently collected such data, please contact us at matetamerlanechess@gmail.com for prompt deletion.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our App. The latest version will always be accessible within the App.
