Frequently Asked Questions about Institute
I only have a couple months ‘till my mission—can I attend? Yes, take mission prep, even if you only go once.
Can BYU students attend institute? Yes. Many BYU students follow the Utah Valley Institute on Instagram so they can attend the classes or social events such as dances, dinners, sports nights, firesides, etc. Many church colleges will accept institute credit. Discuss this with your institute teacher if you are interested in transfer credit. Classes are free.
What if I don’t go to college? Institute is a great way to continue learning of Jesus Christ. It’s also a great way to meet new people for any young adult (YA).
I am an older young adult. I thought institute was for 18-year-olds. Many of the Orem Stake Institutes have two to three hundred 25–35-year-olds attending a weekly dinner and institute class. The Utah Valley Institute generally has younger YA. Any YA can attend any institute.
I’m just home for the summer. Can I attend? Yes. Institute is year-round. Please visit us.
How do I see what classes are offered? https://sites.google.com/view/utahvalleyinstitute/find-a-class Notice there are Stake classes throughout Utah Valley. Most of these have hundreds of young adults attending. The Utah Valley Institute is also open to any young adults.

“I can’t commit to attend each week.” That’s okay. Enroll anyway and come when you can.
”I don’t want a bunch of institute texts/emails.” Ok, deal. Only significant announcements.
“None of my friends or roommates can go.” Institute is a social place. All YA are invited so come meet some new people. Invite those you minister to go with you.
“Institute is for college students” or “I already graduated from BYU.” It’s for all YA. It’s a great place to continue learning about Jesus Christ.
I don’t speak English very well. Classes in English or Spanish. Las clases son en ingles o espanol.
My spouse and I are recently married. Young married couples may continue to attend institute.
