The Friends of Chepstow Priory Friends is a small but growing band of community volunteers aiming to increase the utilisation of the Chepstow Priory to be a versatile thriving centre for the whole community.  

The Chepstow Priory is an historically important Grade 1 historical building which has stood on it current site since 1071

The community will have fond memories of performing or attending school Christmas concerts, attending life events such as weddings or Christening.  The Priory Friends wish to this to continue and develop a thriving community space that can be passed on to future generations as it has been for the last millennium

You can now join or renew your Chepstow Priory Friends membership online via he links below. In doing so you are directly supporting St Marys Priory and the Friends aim of maintaining and developing the Priory's facilities to meet the needs of the 21st Century. 

1 year membership = £20 or Lifetime membership = £100  

Becoming a Friend is not committing you to anything beyond your membership fee, although there are plenty of ways to get involved in the Friends activities, if you are able too. Having a growing Friends membership is key to demonstrating community support when we apply for grants to fund our ambitions.

Chepstow Priory Friends - Our Vison 

1. Return St Mary's Priory purpose to its 1071.A.D roots as a thriving centre of community life for residences and visitors to Chepstow

2. Develop the Priory's facilities to meet the needs of the 21st Century and beyond

3. Maintain the Priory as a centre of family life where families can celebrate school concerts or mark life events including, Christenings, weddings and more

4. Preserve the Priory as a major historic building of the town for future generations to enjoy

5. Maintain the 1000-year connection with Christian worship and prayer for the people of Chepstow 

Chepstow Priory Friends - Our Activities

As well as liaising closely with the church body and our builder (who is a trustee of the Friends), we aim to fundraise by:

• Encouraging organisations to run their events in the Priory, for which there may be a hire charge or a collection for the Friends, or run our own events

• Run bars for evening events, manned by volunteers with all profits going towards improvement and maintenance of the Priory

• Apply for grants
