The Liu Lab at Lehigh University is actively recruiting for Postdoctoral Researchers and a Research Technician / Lab Manager to join our growing team, supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). We are a cell biology lab investigating the molecular mechanisms that underlie oocyte development and meiotic quality control. Using C. elegans as our primary model organism, we combine advanced microscopy, genetics, biophysics, and molecular biology to uncover how quality control at the nuclear envelope ensure the selective production of healthy egg cells.
We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral fellows with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in cell and molecular biology, genetics, biophysics, physiology, or related fields. Candidates with prior experience in physiology and/or calcium imaging are especially encouraged to apply.
Postdocs in our lab are expected to work independently, drive their own projects by developing and/or applying cross-disciplinary approaches based on the resources available in our lab, at our department, or across the Lehigh campus. We offer a highly collaborative and stimulating research environment, enriched by Lehigh’s interdisciplinary culture and by the strong regional community in meiosis and nuclear cell biology. In addition, Lehigh University provides a robust professional development program for postdocs, with structured mentoring and comprehensive support for diverse career pathways (see: https://postdoc.lehigh.edu/career-development).
We are seeking a full-time Lab Manager to support the daily operations of the lab, maintain our C. elegans strain collections, oversee the lab's inventory of reagent, supply and equipment and safety compliance, and participate in ongoing molecular biology research. This role includes procuring and managing lab supplies, training incoming lab members, supervising work-study students, and assisting with experimental protocols and data analysis.
Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in biology, genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, or a related field, and demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
This position offers a dynamic environment with hands-on research opportunities, exposure to cutting-edge experimental techniques, and the chance to contribute to high-impact scientific publications. It is a 12-month, full-time, non-remote role based at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.
Official application portal will be available soon. Meanwhile, interested individuals are encouraged to contact Dr. Chenshu Liu directly at chenshu.liu[at]lehigh.edu with a CV, a one-page statement of interest (11-point Arial font, single line-spacing, 1 inch margin), and contact information for three references. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the positions are filled.
We look forward to welcoming new members to our collaborative and curiosity-driven team!
Welcome to our lab! Founded in Fall 2024, we are building a vibrant research group where science is rigorous, meaningful, and fun. We are committed to creating a supportive environment where every lab member can thrive and grow into the scientist they aspire to be. Our philosophy is simple: we believe that science flourishes when people feel supported, inspired, and empowered. By fostering a culture of mentorship, collaboration, and curiosity, we aim to make exciting discoveries while nurturing individual growth.
We are currently recruiting graduate students (through the Biological Sciences PhD program at Lehigh), a research technician/lab manager, and undergraduate students. If you're interested in joining us, please contact Dr. Liu directly with your CV and a brief description of your research interests and goals. We look forward to hearing from you and exploring the possibility of working together!

Lehigh University is a private research university founded in 1865, well-known for its interdisciplinary research excellence and student-centered PhD programs. Lehigh University was recently designated an R1 institution by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, recognizing it as a top-tier research university with the highest level of research activity. Located in the heart of Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, Bethlehem, known as the “Christmas City,” offers an exceptional quality of life with a unique blend of historic charm and modern convenience. Its vibrant downtown is filled with diverse dining options, from farm-to-table eateries to international cuisine, complemented by a thriving arts and music scene. Nestled between Philadelphia and New York City, Bethlehem provides easy access to major metropolitan areas while maintaining the tranquility of a smaller community. "We are located in Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley, a small part of what was Lenni-Lenape territory for over 10,000 years. We recognize that every member of our community has, and continues to benefit from, the use and occupation of this land, since the institution’s founding in 1865. Consistent with our values of community, inclusion, and diversity, we have a responsibility to acknowledge and make visible the university’s relationship to Native peoples. As members of the Lehigh University community, it is vitally important that we not only recognize the history of the land on which we stand but also, we recognize that the Lenape people are alive and flourishing members of Lehigh Valley today. We understand that acknowledging and recognizing the Lenape in no way remedies or repairs the damage done; it is merely a step towards raising awareness."
