This painting is a reinvention of western classics and recreates the oil painting. In Monet’s painting, although irises are the protagonists, it occupies a small part in the painting. I want to transform a large area of grass into the protagonist. I used alternative angles and compositions to recreate Monet’s irises and grass. I refer to the painting method of Yun Shouping’s irises, and use boneless painting to show the hazy feeling in Monet’s oil painting.

This work is about the integration of Columba livia and the city. They are very close to our living environment. There are urban elements of blind bricks and street signs in the painting. Clay contains sand and has the ability to absorb water, which can create some special rough texture and create a rough effect in the painting.

I used the traditional technique of accumulating ink and adding mud. This technique is used in traditional landscape painting, so I added natural materials and integrated this traditional technique.
