The Chenango Forks Junior Varsity program is part of the BCHSHA’s inaugural 7th–8th grade division, built to mirror a true high school hockey environment. Our JV team trains, practices, and plays with the similar standards and structure as varsity.
Prepare 7th–8th graders for the speed, physicality, and responsibility of BCHSHA varsity hockey. Teach systems, habits, and details that align directly with the Chenango Forks varsity program. Give younger players meaningful game reps in a competitive league while keeping development as the priority.
Practices are run using a high school model: high tempo, lots of puck touches, and mirroring game situations. Systems, terminology, and special teams concepts match what we use at the varsity level, so the transition is seamless. Players are evaluated and coached like high school athletes, not “youth” players, and ice time is earned through work, compete, and team play.
JV is coached by members of the Chenango Forks varsity staff; we do not use parent head coaches. Varsity and JV coaches collaborate on practice planning, player development, and evaluations to keep the entire program aligned. The same expectations for work ethic, culture, and class apply at the JV level as they do for varsity.
Players get regular practices, a full BCHSHA JV schedule, and playoff opportunities within the new division. Every player receives individual feedback on strengths, areas to improve, and what it will take to earn varsity minutes in the future. The focus is simple: when players leave JV, they are ready to compete for a Chenango Forks varsity spot and help win championships.
