Lab Equipment
Located near the center of the New York metropolitan area, the SEWES Lab has nearly 1000 square feet of laboratory space that is dedicated to state-of-the-art research on subsurface energy, water, and environmental systems using experimental and numerical methods.
Custom-made fracture conductivity cell, fabricated according to the API RP-19D standard, measures the hydraulic conductivity of proppant-filled hydraulic fractures under confining pressures up to 17,000 psi and temperatures up to 250 °C.
High-temperature oven and core flooding equipment for water-flooding and gas-flooding experiments under temperatures up to 250℃
MakerBot Replicator 2X Experimental 3D Printer
Lab-scale experimental analogue fluid system, which studies the role of a heterogeneous permeability field on miscible density-driven convection in porous media
ISCO SyriXus 260X pump, which provides pressures up to 9,500 psi
ISCO 500D pump, which provides pressures up to 3,750 psi
Core holders
Six-feet fume hood for H2 injection and flooding experiments
MSE PRO Standard Contact Angle Meter/Goniometer, which measures the contact angle between a liquid droplet and a solid surface, thereby providing valuable information about the wettability of the surface
Proppant transport system, which studies granular material transport, settling, and distribution in hydraulic fractures of varying geometry. The pump in the system is a Liberty 1LL6 pump that provides a flow rate of 5-47 GPM and pressure up to 80 psi
