History of the Elements Article

You will be writing an article for a science magazine. This article needs to explore the history of one of the groups in the periodic table and the elements in that group.

You can choose from one of the following groups :

• Group 1 – The Alkali Metals
• Group 2 – The Alkali Earth Metals
• Group 3 – The Icosogens
• Group 4 – The Crystallogens
• Group 5 – The Pnictogens
• Group 6 – The Calcogens
• Group 7 – The Halogens
• Group 8 – The Noble Gases
• The Transition Metals (The middle metal groups)
• The Lanthanides and Actinides (The bottom two periods)

Your article must cover which elements are in each group and explain their origins (who discovered each one and when), their uses, their similar properties and also include images of them.
