Chef Clown Man first appeared in 64studios101's one-page comic "Chef Meat and Greet vs. Chef Clown Man" in Chef Meat and Greet #12, which was from around late February or early March 2013. The comic was intended to introduce a "new spin-off," Chef Clown Man, which would be a humorous comic in contrast to the superhero-oriented Chef Meat and Greet series. This spin-off never really took off until The Chef Clown Man Show began over two years later. The comic also featured the first appearance of John Johnny Johnson, who was much more antagonistic than he would later become, as he tried to teleport Clown Man away forever with his "teleport gun." The only other Chef Clown Man Show character who appeared here is Dr. Daddy. He wasn't intended to be a recurring character but nonetheless saved the day in the end. Neither Johnson nor Dr. Daddy was named here, instead being named in a short prose adaptation of the comic that was created a few months later.

Clown Man and Johnson in "I am a Quitter"
Chef Clown Man and John Johnny Johnson next appeared in Chef Meat and Greet #13. This story, entitled "Happy Birthday, Creator!" showed the two celebrating 64studios101's birthday, along with many other Chef Meat and Greet characters. This was only a cameo appearance, however, as they didn't get speaking roles. A month or two after this, Clown Man appeared in a half-page comic entitled "I am a Quitter," where he acted as the host of "The Chef Clown Man Show" with John Johnny Johnson acting as the director. The comic ended abruptly when Clown Man left the setting to cook, and the other half of the page was dedicated to a short comedic Chef Meat and Greet comic.
Chef Clown Man and John Johnny Johnson also appeared in two separate one-page Chef Clown Man comics, both numbered as the first issue. The first one was titled "Hoops!" and dealt with Clown Man and Johnson playing basketball, while the second one, entitled "A Clowning Halloween!" was a short story about Clown Man trying to trick-or-treat. Clown Man appeared in two stories inside of 2014's Comix Craze #1, which featured many single-page stories. Johnson appeared in the "Chef Clown Man" feature and tried playing football with Clown Man. The second one was entitled "Hungry Chefs," and featured Chef Meat and Greet and Chef Clown Man about to engage in a moderated Hot Dog Eating Contest. "Hungry Chefs" ended in a cliffhanger, and neither feature appeared in the second issue, as 64studios101 decided to only write Comix Craze stories about superheroes.

Clown Man after being pushed off of the roller coaster in Hero Comix #3
Clown Man appeared in a small comic strip in Hero Comix # 3 and 4, likely from 2013 or 2014. In this story, Johnson performed his most antagonistic action to date: he actually pushed Clown Man off of a moving roller coaster. WhoFan12 created a comic entitled Clown Man the Clueless, but at this time didn't realize that Johnson was a recurring character, and thus depicted random people getting annoyed by Clown Man instead. Eventually, however he made a Chef Clown Man comic that did feature Johnson. Around early 2014, WhoFan12 made the first episode list for The Chef Clown Man Show Season 1, which featured some episodes that would eventually be produced. This was just made for fun, however, and wasn't intended to be turned into an actual show. WhoFan12 later started work on a comic of the first episode of his list entitled "Goodbye, Chef Clown Man!" but didn't finish it.
Another episode list was made between late 2014 and early 2015, which had a combination of now-used episode ideas and ones that have been deemed unsuitable for the show. The episodes on this list were actually intended to be created as, after several discussions, 64studios101 and WhoFan12 decided to make the Chef Clown Man Show a reality. By this point 64studios101 had uploaded two videos with versions of the theme song, the first on April 24, 2014, although it is worth noting that the song was actually composed months beforehand. Clown Man then appeared in an animated adaption of "Chef Meat and Greet vs. Chef Clown Man" on May 27, 2014. In 2015, 64studios101 made pages of a mock Chef Clown Man newspaper comic strip; some of these strips were later used as the basis for episodes. Later that year, 64studios101 and WhoFan12 decided to start work on the show. Writing of the script for "Chef Clown Man, You're Hired!" began in March 2015. 64studios101 recorded a new version of the theme and credits music, and the intro was animated and filmed. After that, the first episode of The Chef Clown Man Show was released on November 5, 2015. Nearly ten years and over sixty episodes later, the show is still going strong. Episodes are currently released every few months, and they will continue to be for the foreseeable future.
