One of the cornerstones of the Cheek Band Program is increasing the individual skills of each band member. One area that will help build such strong individual musicians and bands is private instruction. All Cheek Band students are highly encouraged to enroll in private lessons. Private lessons on an instrument are the fastest ways to attain individual skills. It is only through private study that a professional will hear the student play on a weekly basis and can provide one-on-one feedback consistently and cater to the students’ individual needs. Students will focus on fundamental skills that are particular to his or her instrument. These are aspects of development that cannot be offered in a full-band setting.
Private lessons can occur before school, during the student's band class, and after school depending on the student and lesson teacher's availability.
Private lessons are $20. If finances are a concern, there are limited scholarship opportunities available. Please apply through the application.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
We understand that there may be a need for financial assistance for your student to participate in private lessons. Financial assistance is reserved for families/students with extenuating circumstances (personal/financial) that participating in private lessons would cause undue hardship. This program does not provide free lessons but shares the cost with the family. Financial assistance is not guaranteed. Students receiving financial assistance are agreeing to participate in the band the following school year. Those who withdraw at the end of the year are responsible for repaying the scholarship amount.
