Gregory L. Denson is presently the Director of Bands at Cheek Middle School in Prosper, TX in the Denton Independent School District. The Cheek MS program is the largest organization at Cheek and consists of 2 concert ensembles, jazz band, and an active percussion program. The program serves over 280 students in 6th through 8th grade.
Dr. Denson is a native of Morven, Georgia and holds a Bachelor of Music from Morehouse College, a Master of Music Education with teacher certification from The Florida State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education from Georgia State University. Denson has studied with David Morrow, Uzee Brown, Andre Thomas, Richard Clary, Clifford Madsen, Steve Kelly, Kimberly VanWeelden, Pat Meighan, Clarence Johnson and Gholnescar Muhammad.
Denson began his teaching career at D. M. Therrell High School in the Atlanta Public School System. While at Therrell students participated in the Georgia Music Educators Association Large Group Performance Evaluation, performed in numerous college homecoming parades, participated in The University of Georgia JanFest Clinic, and a host of community and civic events. Denson also served as the Co-Director of the Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Jazz Ensemble and served as the Lead MS Band Teacher for the Atlanta Public Schools.
Prior to Cheek Middle School, Denson served as Director of Bands at East Cobb Middle School Band in Marietta, GA. Under his direction, the program grew from 120 students to 580+ in 4 years and quickly established a reputation of musical excellence. The students at East Cobb participated in 5 concert ensembles; and Jazz Band. Students also participated in a host of student led chamber ensembles. While at East Cobb, the Honors Band was selected as a featured performing ensemble at the Music for All National Concert Band Festival (2023), Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service (2023), and the University of Georgia Midfest Honor Band (2020, 2021). Students have been selected to participate in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Talent Development Program, District XII Honor Band, Georgia All-State Band, University of Georgia MidFest Honor Band Clinic, Auburn MS Honor Band, Reinhardt University Honor Band, Conn-Selmer Youth Band of Atlanta, and the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Denson has presented clinics at the Midwest Clinic, GMEA In-Service Conference and a host of professional development sessions. He is a Conn Selmer VIP and served as the Chair of the Georgia Music Educators Association Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access Committee. Denson serves on the Executive Board of the Minority Band Directors National Association.
Dr. Denson is active as an adjudicator, guest conductor and clinician and is an Educational Ambassador for the Eastman Music Company.
Associate Director of Bands

Daney E. Glover serves as Associate Director of Bands at Cheek Middle School, part of the Denton Independent School District. At Cheek, he conducts the Symphonic Band, leads the Jazz Band, teaches the beginning saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, and tuba classes, and assists with the Honors Band. The band program serves over 280 students and is the largest organization on campus.
Before his appointment at Cheek Middle School, Mr. Glover served as the Assistant Director of Bands (2018-2020) and the Director of Bands (2020-2023) at Cooper Middle School in Austell, GA part of the Cobb County School District. Mr. Glover is a proud alumnus of Louisiana State University where he was a member of the Tuba and Euphonium Studio, The “Golden Band from Tigerland”, The Bengal Brass Basketball Band, the LSU Symphonic Band, the LSU Symphonic Winds, and LSU Wind Ensemble.
Mr. Glover has been fortunate to study euphonium and conducting with Dr. Joseph Skillen, Dr. Chasse Duplantis, Dr. Damon Talley, Dr. Dennis Llinàs, Dr. Kelvin Jones, Dr. Jaclyn Hartenberger, and Dr. Jack A. Eaddy Jr.
As a performer, Mr. Glover was a euphonium player in the Cobb Wind Symphony under the direction of Mr. Alfred L. Watkins. As a clinician, Mr. Glover is in high demand and has worked with numerous middle and high school band programs across Georgia and the DFW metroplex. He holds memberships in the Minority Band Directors National Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternity, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
