My Story

My name is Faith Wright, and I created Check My Child because of a question that kept me awake at night.

In August 2025, I became a single mum to my 18-month-old daughter. Like many parents, I wanted to believe that nothing would ever happen to me, but one question kept coming back:

"What would happen if I became seriously ill and my daughter was too young to call for help?"

The idea for Check My Child came to me in October 2025. I contacted several app development companies hoping to bring the idea to life, but after receiving little interest, I eventually decided to build it myself.

I realised I couldn't be the only parent lying awake wondering:

At one point, the worry became so real that I found myself leaving extra drinks of water beside my bed and making other small preparations "just in case". That was the moment I realised I needed to do something more practical—not just for myself, but for other parents who might share the same fear.

Those questions became the foundation of Check My Child.

The app allows parents and carers to create a personalised Family Safety Plan, complete a simple daily check-in, and nominate a trusted contact. If a check-in is missed and remains unanswered after two reminder notifications and the 4-hour escalation period, the trusted contact is alerted so they can begin the emergency plan you've shared.

I know I won't be the only parent who has had these worries.

Nobody can respond to an emergency that nobody knows has happened.

That simple thought became the driving force behind Check My Child.

My hope is that this app gives parents and carers extra reassurance, knowing there's an additional safeguarding step in place to help ensure no child is left without support simply because nobody knew something was wrong.
