Outreach

Apart from doing research, I am very much passionate about STEM education and mentoring. I love to explain science to high school/college students and help them in whichever way I can to make an informed career decision.  

SkoolMentor is a research program designed to expose high school students to the modern day research.  

I have been volunteering for the organization since 2021 Summer. I have so far mentored 4 students. Each student works for a 3-month project where I train them on the whole cycle of scientific literacy, including reading up scientific literature, learning a computational tool, performing some basic simulations, analyzing the data and present the results in front of the peers. 

To my surprise, most of the students adapt and perform exceedingly well during this training program. It is also quite a fulfilling experience as a mentor.  

REACT is a (virtual) research initiation program (perhaps first of its kind) designed for the college students in India, especially for those institutions with limited to no research infrastructures. It is sponsored by Sci-ROI India.

I am a co-designer and co-founder of the mentor-led-curriculum of the program. 

SpringSaLaD tutorial: I presented a tutorial of the SpringSaLaD software at the Computational Cell Biology workshop 2020, conducted by CCAM .  For next few years (2021 - 2024), I have been leading the discussion session on the software during the annual workshop.  Below are the YouTube links.

Mission & Vision

I strongly believe that the foundation of a healthy society relies on a group of rational, empathetic and well-informed citizens. Science has a big role to play in shaping the society towards that direction via Innovation, Collaboration and  Training. 

We need Innovation to tackle modern problems. We need a cross-sector Collaboration between Scientists, Politicians, Social workers and Policy makers. Lastly, we should invest heavily in training the next generation of citizens.
