Agave

Native to the arid regions of Southwest US and Mexico they can tolerate many types of soil, neglect and full sun. Once they are mature they will send up a "spike" which is their flower that lasts for multiple months. They often will reproduce through runners below ground or on their stem. Agave Attenuata is good because it does not have the sharp spikes as many other varieties do.
