Feast Day Celebrations at the Park

All Saints Day Celebration at the Park

“I believe in the communion of saints” -Apostle’s Creed

We will gather around 9:30 am to celebrate All Saints Day at a public park with a short circle time followed by free play.

Circle time will include:

  • Singing a hymn

  • Reading 1 John 3:1-3 and Matthew 5:1-12A

  • Prayer

  • Guessing of Saints

Children (and adults) are invited to dress up as saints (Bible characters, canonized saints, men and women who have professed faith in Christ Jesus, etc.) and to prepare clues to help others guess their saint.

For example:

I am in the Old Testament. I am from the tribe of Levi. I was found in a basket in the Nile. Moses

I was a soldier. I lived in 4 th century. I became a bishop. I saw a shivering beggar and so I split my cloak in two to share with him. St Martin

We will split into groups as necessary and have time for the children to present their clues and for their group to guess their saint.

Children may want to wear their costume over regular clothes so that after the circle time they may remove their costumes to play.

“When the Lord comes in glory, and all his angels with him, death will be no more and all things will be subject to him. But at the present time some of his disciples are pilgrims on earth. Others have died and are being purified, while still others are in glory, contemplating ‘in full light, God himself triune and one, exactly as he is’” CCC 954
