3rd annual Camp George set for Saturday, October 25, 2025. Registration will become available in August.
My name is Lexi Allen and I am a College and Career Counselor in the School District of Rhinelander. After graduating from RHS, I attended UW-Green Bay for my Bachelor’s in Psychology and Human Development. I then attended Concordia University for my Master’s, while working at Northwest Journey as a group facilitator, before moving into my role as school counselor. I worked at Antigo High School for two years before transitioning into my role at Rhinelander High School in 2021. I currently live in Sugar Camp with my soon-to-be husband and our two dogs, Lincoln and Beau. In our free time, we enjoy riding the UTVs, going on the boat, playing/watching sports, hiking, and doing DIY projects. I also coach middle school girl's basketball.
I am passionate about my work with grief due to my personal experiences. In 2020, I lost two of my closest family members- my dad and my grandpa, both of which I was incredibly close to. In 2021, I lost my grandma and experienced the loss of a major relationship. Due to these personal experiences, I decided to get my certficiation from UW-Madison as a Grief Specialist, which led me to hosting Camp George for the first time in 2022. After taking 2023 off (due to other time commitments), we are hosting our 2nd annual grief camp again in 2024. My recently, in February 2025, my fiancé and I lost our newborn baby, Charlie when he was 2 and a half days old.
We would love to have your child join us, whether they have experienced the physical loss of a family member, friend or pet, or are struggling through divorce--this camp is for everyone.
My dad, George, was my hero and someone I still look up to every day. In November 2020, he became very ill from Covid-19 and spent nearly three weeks in the hospital. He spent his final day on earth on Thanksgiving Day (November 26). Our family wants to continue to honor our dad as well as support others who are grieving.
Through this camp, we aim to help children who might be struggling with:
Death of a close friend
Death of a family member
Death of a parent
Serious illness of a loved one
Divorce of parents
Death of a pet
By attending camp, children will have the opportunity to work through their grief, as well as be surrounded by other children who are working through their own grief and loss.
