How's It Growing is an educational, fixed perspective point-and-click puzzle game where you play as a budding botanist at the first Australian Botanical Gardens in the 1940s.

How's It Growing is an educational, fixed perspective point-and-click puzzle game set during the first plantings of the Australian National Botanic Gardens in the 1940s. You play as a budding botanist, learning about plant life cycles by manipulating plant environments to grow 3 native plants and disperse their seeds through interactive challenges. This was to be used by the Botanical Gardens for schools to access & use with the lesson plans they made.

This project had a 2 month timeframe and was a collaboration between the AIE and the Australian National Botanic Gardens. The team consisted of 3 designers, 4 programmers and 5 artists.

My main contributions to the project were through pre-production planning with the group & Sound Design. I was in charge of creating & formatting the Asset List, making sure all needed assets were included.

I assisted in dialogue & sound effect creation, while also composing unique scores of music that the game would use. Most of the pieces were created by using a piano as a MIDI controller hooked up to Garage Band. From there, it was a matter of creating the actual melodies then adjusting the pitches/sound level for each track.

Through hosting playtesting sessions I managed to acquire feedback for the game in it's early stages that we used to improve the project. The group was also in constant contact with the Botanical Gardens, making sure the project was going in the direction that they intended it go as there were specific educational goals, language requirements and system requirements that they had to approve of.
