Final Project
The final project will allow students to critically evaluate how CHANS/SES frameworks can be used to assess PES program sustainability. Students will be divided into small groups across institutions for the final project. The students will coordinate within these groups to choose a PES program to study, conduct an extensive literature review on this PES program and the local SES context, develop a conceptual model of the PES program using a CHANS/SES framework and identify pertinent research questions that need to be addressed to ensure the sustainability of that PES program.
The final deliverable will be a 10 minute presentation to the class, allowing 5 minutes for questions afterwards. Students will (1) identify and describe their chosen PES program, (2) identify, use, and modify as needed one of the CHANS/SES frameworks presented in class to represent the CHANS/SES components of that PES program, (3) develop 3-5 research questions that need to be addressed to ensure the sustainability of the PES program, (4) outline variables that they would need to collect to address the question and (5) reflect on advantages and challenges of using CHANS/SES thinking to assess PES sustainability. The presentation should include a references slide; at least 15 references (not on the syllabus) should be used in the final project.
Final projects/presentations will be graded on CHANS/SES content (80%) and organization and presentation style (20%). See the rubric document below for more details on grading.
The groups are as follows:
- Group 1: Scott (CSU), Ande (MTU), Mario (INECOL)
- Group 2: Sarah (CSU), Lorena (INECOL)
- Group 3: Allison (CSU), Sergio (MTU), Andres (SUNY ESF)
- Group 4: Nicole (MTU), Rekha (CSU)
- Group 5: Kenneth (MTU), Brian (CSU)
