Discussion

Each student will co-lead one discussion session. Paper discussants will (a) provide a short overview of the paper(s) for that session and (b) develop discussion questions for the session. The overview should be no more than 10 minutes and consist of no more than 5 slides; it should review main points of the paper, raise topics of interest, and relate the material to other readings as appropriate. Following the summary, lead students are expected to actively generate and facilitate discussion for the remainder of the session. Discussion questions should be posted to Google Docs Drive at least 48 hours before class (4-5 questions are suggested). All other students should come to each discussion session prepared to discuss the posted questions and assigned readings. Although the discussion will focus on the assigned paper, we encourage you to link to previous discussion papers and PES during the discussion. Additionally, if you have any anecdotal evidence beyond the reading, adding personal experience is highly encouraged. Paper discussions will be graded pass/fail.
