This is a great opportunity to work with a great company.
The production of video content is a strong trend in The World and worldwide: just look at the growing number of online courses, youtubers and other producers.
After all, if you have a great idea or in-depth knowledge on a topic, why not use videos to share them? For producers, YouTube is the perfect place to start attracting an audience for your content. Founded in 2005, the platform has been revolutionary since its inception - and remains the preferred platform for hosting videos for free worldwide. But do you know how monetization works on YouTube and what has changed recently?
Many producers used only the monetization offered by the platform, based on ads that Google ran in their videos. However, this process has undergone some changes recently, which limited the possibilities of monetization for some creators.
With that in mind, we researched this subject to understand what has changed and how it affects producers who wanted to monetize with YouTube.
Monetization on YouTube is based on the so-called YouTube Partner Program, which allows free registration for content producers who already have an account on the platform.
By 2018, several types of content producers could make money from ads served at the beginning of their videos. The prerequisites for being accepted into the YouTube Partner Program were:
Clearly show that you produce original content;
Produce content on a regular basis;
Have content that complies with YouTube Community rules;
Be located in one of the countries on the Partner Program list.
Thus, it was easier to start making money from videos, even if it was in small quantities.
From this registration, the process was relatively simple: if approved in the program, your channel could start running ads. Through AdSense, Google's official ad platform, ads would be served on some videos, according to the automatic choice of the system. Therefore, your profit would come from the number of ad clicks or the time of advertising attended by your audience.

Due to the apparent simplicity of monetization, many producers applied to the program and this made it difficult to validate the channels that would be approved. In addition, advertisers had no control over the videos on which their ads appeared: the choice of what content the advertising appears on was entirely up to the system (which, in turn, is based on an algorithm rather than a YouTube validation on si).
Consequence: a large number of advertisements were carried on videos considered offensive and objectionable.
And for large companies, such as Vodafone, Starbucks and PepsiCo, that was enough to get them off the Google ad platform.
This movement generated repercussions on the internet and received support from a growing number of companies worldwide. For a marketing manager for a large corporation, this type of association of the ad with an offensive video can be extremely damaging to the brand name.
Thus, already in 2017, YouTube made its statement about what happened, taking new stances in relation to the Partner Program. Since then, the Partner Program's eligibility system has changed, so the video producer must comply with a new prerequisite before applying: having more than 10,000 views on your channel. Thus, according to the YouTube team, there would be greater validation for producers who could make money from their videos, ensuring that ads are not linked to offensive videos.
In the process, many channels were harmed and there were even those who decided to have side projects to compensate for the monetization difficulties. Examples of this were youtubers Felipe Neto and Whindersson Nunes.
However, apparently, this measure alone was not enough to prevent abusive content from being monetized and, in mid-November, more brands left YouTube after a new scandal.
Then, on January 16, the platform again announced changes in its form of monetization and, with them, it looks like it will become even more difficult to make money from a YouTube channel.
Due largely to the recent scandal with youtuber Logan Paul (who showed the body of a suicide victim in his video and was still having the content highlighted and monetized), YouTube changed its monetization rules again. From now on, all channels that want to make money from the platform will be carefully analyzed, not only by the number of views, but also by the type of content, user engagement and more.
Therefore, starting to take effect immediately, only channels with at least 1 thousand subscribers and at least 4 thousand hours of content watched in the last 12 months will be validated for the monetization program.
Existing channels that are active for monetization but do not meet the requirements will be reevaluated and removed from the program until February 20th.
The platform will also manually review violations of platform rules, spam and reports to ensure channels are in compliance with the site's guidelines. All channels currently active for monetization will be automatically evaluated.
What's more, YouTube now guarantees that it will be more transparent with its advertisers and promises to give more information about where its advertisements are running and how they are being consumed.
The promise is that rigidity with producers will increase and if this is good for brands, it may end up delaying and preventing monetization in several channels - regardless of their size.
As we talked about here, monetization on YouTube has always been a complicated task, but changes to the Partner Program have made this process even more difficult. Despite being an extremely accessible platform, getting a lot of views on your content is a lot of work - and the platform's financial reward is not great.
If you create a video, or more, and have many visits, you can earn money with advertising on YouTube videos, and this is the main basis with which you usually earn money with videos on the platform. The other is using these videos as supporting content on blogs.
Create a blog that includes YouTube videos. In this way, you can create content very easily including some interesting information and videos and make money from it with blog advertising.
Promote your own services, products or company through YouTube videos. Sometimes the important thing is not to make money from advertising but to make your own advertising.
