ATM F620: Climate Journal Club Seminar  (Fall 2026)
This session reviews seminal and inspiring papers on weather, climate, and their interface across spatial scales from regional to global. Participants take turns presenting selected papers, answering audience questions, and leading discussions. Students also give team presentations with a deeper dive into selected papers.

ATM F644: Weather Analysis and Forecasting (scheduled for Spring 2027)
This course introduces the fundamental dynamics governing synoptic-scale atmospheric motions in the midlatitudes (e.g., quasi-geostrophic dynamics, potential vorticity conservation) and applies them to the analysis and forecasting of various components represented on synoptic weather maps (e.g., jet streaks, troughs & ridges, fronts, surface cyclones, extratropical transition). The influences of climate variability and change on synoptic weather systems are also briefly addressed.
