I am a tenure-track assistant professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at UAF (jointly, at the International Arctic Research Center).
My research focuses on the extratropical atmospheric circulations across synoptic to planetary scales and their role in local extremes (primarily, extreme precipitation) in present and future climates.
I combine theory, reanalysis & climate model data analysis, and idealized modeling to understand and isolate the key physical mechanisms governing weather and climate systems.
Prior to joining UAF, I worked with Prof. Yi Ming and Prof. Seok-Woo Son on the multiscale dynamics and modeling of extreme weather.

June 12, 2026: A paper, "Hysteresis in Global Atmospheric River Activity under Carbon Dioxide Removal" for which I served as corresponding author, is available in npj Climate and Atmospheric Sciences. It was a pleasure to mentor Mr. Seohyun Chung who led this work greatly!
June 8, 2026: ADEW research group has officially launched.
