When I was in high school, I had a girl I considered a big sis in the class above me named Slysha. She took me to the north shore, she took me to the saltwater pool, and she introduced me to my first boyfriend. My last memory of seeing her was when she tried to get me to smoke weed at Carnival. I was way too afraid to take her up on her offer.
She was in my Yoga class, we'd spend a few hours together a week and we would message each other at night every so often. I always looked up to her. She was so smart, sarcastic, witty, and her eyelashes were miles long. She was confident and independent. I love her.
Her Junior year she left my school and we drifted apart. I came to learn a horrible accident had happened to her the following year, and left her permanently changed. She went to Arizona to live in an assisted living facility. I graduated and left for college.
Throughout the years I'd think of her from time to time. Two nights ago, I told Chris about my big sis and what had happened to her. The next day, my mom mentioned seeing her at the mall. The two coinciding felt like a sign. I immediately ran to the mall and asked employees about when and where I could find her.
They told me she'd be here today from 11am-7pm. It'll be the first time I've seen her in 11 years. I'm excited and terrified. I hope she remembers me.
