My primary area of interest is artificial intelligence and machine learning. Topics of interest include large language models, reinforcement learning, agentic AI systems, and causal inference.
I am an Advisor (part-time) at the Center for Responsible AI at IIT Madras, where I lead a group focused on LLM Agents & Systems. Prior to that I was an ML tech lead at Microsoft.
As part of my PhD, I worked with Prof. Balaraman Ravindran, and I have published at ICLR (one of the three most prestigious and impactful forums in AI along with NeurIPS and ICML) and in the ACM Computing Surveys (one of the most prestigious and influential journals in all of computer science). I have also done graduate-level courses on machine learning, reinforcement learning, deep learning, and graphical models. I was also part of one of the most prestigious AI centers in Indian academia -- RBCDSAI.
Another area I have been passionate about is finance. I have an MS in Finance from the University of Oxford, UK. I am also involved in some advisory projects on AI in finance. I have been an active investor in equity markets for over 15 years.
During my strategy consulting days at the prestigious McKinsey, and Oliver Wyman prior to that, I got the opportunity to work for clients across multiple industries and diverse functions. While it was intense, it provided an an ability to understand and analyze businesses, solve problems, think big, and an attention to detail. It also honed my soft skills, which have been highly useful in my career.
Both my Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Technology degrees were in Computer Science. I was also a gold-medalist at IIT Madras. My main interest during my MTech at IIT Madras was on algorithms and cryptography. I got the opportunity to be part of the Theoretical Computer Science Lab at IIT Madras - a research lab with a lot of pedigree - where I worked with Prof. C. Pandu Rangan. Subsequently, during my days at TCS Research, I worked on applied algorithms, and published multiple papers.
