Analyzed the lateral-torsional buckling behavior and stability of steel parallel chord trusses using the ABAQUS simulation software establishing relations based on various truss parameters and lateral restraints. Performed Non-linear buckling analysis to study the effect of imperfections, material non-linearity and find critical buckling load & mode of failure of truss system. Analyzed the analogy between beams and trusses in terms of their Lateral torsional buckling resistance.
A detailed study was conducted to evaluate three CFRP-strengthened bridge diaphragms extracted from the recently deconstructed Canadian Bridge in 2019 that was exposed to aggressive environmental conditions for several years. An extensive instrumentation and incorporation of advanced techniques namely (2D-DIC, LVDTS, ESG, FOS) were used to study the damage progression. The FRP strengthening is highly dependent on the bond slip characteristics.
Analyzed the mix design of Engineered cementitious composites and found the effect of fibre length to achieve better strength (tensile and compressive - because of the reduction of crack propagation ie a better interlocking of fibres enhances the tensile capacity) and bendable characteristics. Using this method ,columns were retrofitted ie the covercrete was now being properly replaced. There was a significant difference in the way the column responded to the loads, enhanced strength and ductile failure modes.
