The internship began with an extensive literature review on Hempcrete as an alternative construction material and its durability. I invloved myself in most of the projects under my supervisor, assisting the research students and performing experiments. The projects were :
Standardisation of the Hempcrete preparation due to the variation in the properties of the Hemp from region to region, as well as the influence of the water and lime properties.
Evaluation of the FRP strengthened diaphragms of a deconstructed bridge in Canada which was retrofitted in the last decade. Evaluation of the Non destructuve testing methods for inspecting FRP strengthened structures - IR thermography, Ultrasonic Pulse velocity and Coin tapping.
Study Behaviour of Retrofitted RC columns subjected to simulated blast loading using the shock tube. Evaluation of the ECC mix design in terms of fibre length , and its application as a retrofit for the strengthening columns. Evaluated the ECC's retrofit ability to resist blast loading.
I also took the training for the structural engineering lab for opertaing cranes and performing destructive tests.

The internship involved an extensive literature review on the broad topics of Construction materials and treatment strategies specifically for the basalt rock applications. Proposed conservation strategies and treatments for the Ajanta Ellora caves particularly based on the rock deterioration mechanisms. Later a review on feasibility of Hempcrete as a construction material was carried out. Finally, literature study was on the basalt rock consolidation treatments.

Proposed an enhanced end-to-end method to identify Construction & Demolition waste and precisely categorize it into five classes. Instance segmentation using the Mask RCNN with the FPN & Resnet 50 as the backbone for the pretrained model is used for live detection. The intern also involved operation of Robotic CNC Plywood cutter for cutting plywood to build concrete formworks, control of the MTAB 6-DoF ROBOT for pick and drop of the segregated waste using the mask coordinates.
Head of Design, Civil Engineering Association - NIT Trichy
Responsible for concept, design, and production of innovative artwork. Achieved high-quality digital artwork including logos, posters, brochures, and T-shirt designs for the department symposium.
This chance to design a logo brings out the depths of what Civil engineering can exhibit and achieve. All aspects of this logo carry significant importance and meanings. The Lion, as we see, symbolizes antiquity and, therefore, the superiority of the Civil Engineering department. There is a subtle detail with the Eyes of the lion: it coincides with the 'I's in Civil engineering, implying keen observation skills and precision needed for a civil engineer. On the other hand, the bird depicting the letter 'V' signifies the convention of birds building nests, the earliest known construction. It implies that birds are the classical construction engineers in the world, and it is intertwined with Civil engineering. The significance of brown color is to emphasise on the qualities it is associated to: dependability, security and safety. It also depicts the color of soil or earth which represents the strength and support it provides and how it is reliable and resilient to any situations.
Manager, Quality Assurance Team, Pragyan
Pragyan, the technical festival of the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
