If your big toe is bent, it is called Hallux Valgus.
If your little toe is bent, it is called a Bunionette.
Both conditions can be treated with Corrective Osteotomy.
Surgery is performed under spinal anesthesia with sedation.
Each foot takes 30~40 minutes to operate.
We use a Minimally Invasive Technique.
A 5-7 day hospital stay is required.
During the procedure, a mini incision is made on the medial side of the big toe, and the 1st metatarsal and proximal phalanx are osteotomized according to a pre-planned correction angle. The screws are used to stabilize the bone. All implants are biocompatible, fully sterilized, and safe for the body, and they don't need to be removed.
Post-Operative Care
No crutches are required after surgery. But you will need special shoes for 6 weeks.
Range of motion (ROM) exercises, including knee flexion and extension, will begin the day after surgery.
If there is no wound infection, you can begin showering after 2 weeks.
You may send monthly X-rays via email (drahn818@naver.com) for remote follow-up.
Rehabilitation can be done at home, focusing on joint mobility and stretching exercises every day.
Physical activities are available in 3~6 months.
Once the bone is fully united, all exercises (running, football, weightlifting, etc.) are possible.
This is a commonly performed and generally safe surgery. However, as with any procedure, rare complications may occur, including:
Nonunion, Fracture, Implant failure, Correction loss...
