Has it been bent since birth due to a congenital condition?
Did it become crooked from overuse or injury?
Even fingers that have been deformed for over 50 years can be corrected with surgery.
Surgery is performed under brachial plexus anesthesia with sedation.
Each finger takes 20 minutes to operate.
We use a minimally invasive technique.
A 2~3 day hospital stay is required.
During the procedure, a small 1.5cm incision is made on the side of the finger, and the phalangeal bone is osteotomized according to a pre-planned correction angle. The pins are used to stabilize the bone, and they can usually be removed safely 6 weeks after surgery.
A small finger splint is required for 4-6 weeks after surgery.
Pain is generally mild, and you can begin using your hand the next day.
If there is no wound infection, showering is allowed after 2 weeks.
At 6 weeks, you will return to the clinic to have the pins safely removed.
Rehabilitation is started after pin removal; it's simple and can be done at home, focusing on daily exercises that improve joint mobility and stretching.
Daily life takes place within a few days, and physical activities are available in 3~6 months.
This is a relatively safe surgery, but rare complications can include:
Extension lag, Nonunion, Fracture...
