USFS Organization
The US Forest Service divides the 154 National Forests and 20 National Grasslands into nine distinct regions.
Region 1: Northern
Region 2: Rocky Mountain
Region 3: Southwestern
Region 4: Intermountain
Region 5: Pacific Southwest
Region 6: Pacific Northwest
Region 8: Southern
Region 9: Eastern
Region 10: Alaska
Each of these regions contains National Forests or National Grasslands, which are composed of sub-units called Ranger Districts.
