Teaching

I have taught numerous college math courses, from remedial college algebra to senior level math major courses -- and every level in between -- in traditional lecture-style rooms, large "SCALE-UP" classrooms, in asynchronous online settings, and in hybrid formats. I have also developed a course from scratch and served as course coordinator for other courses. My teaching experience has come at different types of institutions: large and small, public and private, research-oriented and liberal arts settings.

My teaching can be characterized by a variety of active learning and traditional techniques, each used with the goal of keeping all students actively engaged in the material to grow in analytical skills, mature intellectually, and grow as competent professionals.

My teaching statement explains the goals and philosophies which drive my teaching strategies, as well as some specific strategies that I have implemented. Some of my teaching experiences are discussed as well. Click below to view or download my teaching statement; two versions of varying lengths are provided for your convenience.

For more information about specific teaching experiences (such as courses I have developed and coordinated, a list of courses taught, my experience as a Project NExT fellow and mentee, my experience mentoring a graduate research group, teaching enhancement grants I have received, etc.), view or download my CV. And, of course, feel free to contact me!

My enthusiasm about mathematics (both its knowledge and methods) drives me to continue to grow as an instructor and advocate of the subject. I look forward to leveraging my experiences in teaching for related activities in the future such as student research and creative inquiry projects.
