The Open Educational Resources (OER) and Zero-Textbook-Cost (ZTC) Initiative began at Chabot College in early 2019.
The appointment of a college liaison for the newly established Academic Senate for California Community Colleges Open Educational Resources Initiative formalized the position of a representative at the state level.
In the last 4 years, the OER/ZTC team at Chabot has grown to a team of 10 faculty representing all divisions and the library. The team has mentored 5 cohort teams. More than 70 full-time and part-time instructors have participated in the cohorts providing free or low-cost instructional materials that are available from the first day of class.
