Thank you so much for taking part in this workshop, which is a follow-up to the work that was carried out in our "Cognitive Grammar Seminar" some time ago:

This time, the approach is far much more practical. Theoretical issues will guide our understanding of what language is and thus what exactly it is that we teach; we will not, however, concern ourselves with the fine-grained details of cognitive linguistics/grammar theory anymore for now.
I will also take for granted that the great majority of us are already well-versed into the traditional literature of cognitive, metacognitive, and affective principles of language teaching and learning; for non-seasoned teachers of English however, please let me refer you to the following book (Chapter 4) in case you wish to learn more about said principles (just click the link below, and you will access the book as a PDF):

Our concern in this workshop is not with the application of the traditional conception of "cognition," but with the application of Cognitive Linguistics/Grammar to the teaching and learning of English as a second or foreign language in online environments.
We are all in need of hands-on materials that we can readily deploy into our everyday classes, either at a distance, in face-to-face, or within hybrid models of education. But not only that. We are also in need of an account of language that is more consistent with the deep complexity of our mental routines of communication in English; this is where basic tenets of Cognitive Linguistics/Grammar are of paramount value.
In sum, the merit of this workshop should lie in 3 respects:
1. Practicality
2. Strong theoretical foundations and
3. Digital competency
All the tools and materials that we will use are computerized, set in online environments; so long as we have an internet connection, we will be able to use them at any teaching-learning setting (at on-site classes, at distance learning programs, or at blended schemes of education).
