CFUW was founded in 1919. A number of clubs were formed in Alberta over the years; however, a club did not exist in Sherwood Park. In 1988, a few dedicated local women brought together their energy, dedication and vision to form the Strathcona CFUW club.

For over 30 years, we have come together to foster lifelong learning, advocate for issues of the importance to women and families such as human rights and the environment, and enjoy the friendship of like-minded women.

We are a small club and we get involved in projects related to our mission, such as letter writing to MLAs and MPs or collecting PJs for the women staying at Safe Place or sewing for Days for Girls. We also come together to have fun such as meeting up for lunch or a fireside chat or potlucks. We support scholarships for women in post-secondary programs through contributions to the scholarship programs managed by CFUW Edmonton and the CFUW Charitable Trust.

Contact us and/or come check out one of our meetings to meet other members and consider membership in our club. Membership in our club includes membership in our club, CFUW Strathcona County, the provincial CFUW Alberta, national CFUW, and international Graduate Women International, with all the benefits and opportunities membership provides.
