September 30, 2021

Falcons!,

Great job with the Salpointe meet tonight!

CFHS Boys 119

Salpointe 45

CFHS Girls 85

Salpointe 83

Outstanding everyone!

As we enter the month of October mornings and evenings will become cooler. CFHS parkas are available for our team members. Stop in and see Bill in the equipment room.

No club gear, including parkas, should be worn to high school swim meets

Remember that masks are required any time that you ride the school bus.

Report cards should be available by the end of next week. One of our team policies is that you provide a copy of your grades to the coaches.

We only have three dual meets left before the end of the season. We want everybody to keep their grades up and remain eligible throughout the season.

Normal practice continues through next Friday. Remember that attendance at club or cfhs practice is required to be able to participate in meets. Be at practice daily. Set goals. Work hard to achieve those goals!

During fall break we will practice Monday through Wednesday and will take Thursday and Friday off.

See you at the pool!

Sept 13 update

Falcons

The results for the Wolves invitational are attached. There seems to be an issue with MaxPreps, but it should be updated soon.

Once it updates (hopefully tomorrow am):

Go to AZPreps365 in your browser.

Select Swim and Dive

Click on Stats and then Filter for DII.

Then select the event you're interested in. This will show your current ranking adding Invitationals from around the State. (Being ranked (listed)does not mean you've qualified for State. It is simply ranking you whether you have a Q time or not.)

Maxpreps will change every weekend as we probably still have 20+ Invitationals to be completed by the end of October.

Top 32 Individuals and Top 24 Relays with Automatic and or Provisional Q times qualify for HS State Championships in early November.

Enjoy reading the results!

See you at the pool!

Update Sept 8th

Falcons,

The Silver Blue team assignments are attached see schedule tab. Please let me know if we've missed anyone that has completed the Test Set.

Remember that the Silver and Blue Meet is taking the place of the canceled Pueblo Meet so we'll run it as much like a real meet as possible. Please thank the families for helping to put this together in a very short period of time!

The Blue Team will have first warm ups starting at 4:10 ish

The SIlver Team will warm up second. We'll try to start by 4:40 ish.

During the meet the shallow end is closed. We'll take a 10 minute dive break when you can swim down.

The captains and senior leaders will choose team areas and help lead cheers.

See you at the pool!

Update- 9/8

Falcons,

The Wolves psych sheets are attached. Please review for any errors and let me know of issues immediately.

We only have two students with completed transportation waivers. You'll need to complete the transportation forms and submit to the AD Ryan T by Thursday to transport yourself in private transportation.

Remember that this weeks meet with Pueblo was canceled by the host team.

We will hold a Silver and Blue Intersquad meet on Wednesday to give our team a chance to compete before Wolves.

Team members must have successfully completed the "Test Set" to be added to the Silver or Blue teams and compete. We will allow swimmers a 2nd attempt at completing the Test Set at practice today!

Update 9/5

Due to the changes required by the AIA, the Wolves Meet Director has made the needed scratches. So, we have one more Entry list for you to preview. This is what I did from our side based on his scratches:

  • removed the swimmers that were scratched from the 200 Free, IM and 500 Frees and attempted to add those swimmers to remaining events where we had less than 4.

  • removed the 5th and 6th swimmer from the 50 and 100 free and tried to add those swimmers into remaining events.

At this point the only events with space for additional swimmers, other than the 200 Free, IM and 500 Free, is the 100 fly in both genders. So, if we have a swimmer that was already in the meet, and you've been scratched from both or you still have one swim, I can add a person or two into the flies.

Let me know immediately. We have until noon today.

Using your parents devices - Remember to send your transportation plans (riding the bus OR private transportation) ASAP

See you at the pool!

Results are below:

Girls

Boys

Update from Coach 8/27/2021

Falcon families

Many of the documents that we discussed at the parent meeting are attached. Please become familiar with their contents.

The Auto and Provisional standards are one of the docs.

To qualify for State Championships:

All Qualifying times must be earned at an Invitational, not a dual meet. The Times are challenging so work hard and focus on goals!

Automatic Qualifier

  • If you earn an Automatic Qualifying time at an Invitational meet, you are a State Qualifier in that event.

Provisional Qualifier:

  • If you earn a Provisional Time, you MIGHT qualify for State.

    • The top 32 swimmers qualify. So, If there are 15 people with Automatic Times, the next best 17 Provisional Qualifiers make it to state in that event

  • We are DII

Team Records are attached. - Review them to help understand the level of our team and to develop your goals.

Covid Protocols are attached - We still need to be extremely cautious and exercise social distancing. If you feel sick - stay home!

The 2021 Meet schedule is attached

Finally - Friday's we dismiss from practice a few minutes early. We let the swimmers out around 6:00 pm. The bus will depart the Ft. Lowell parking lot around 6:10 and be back at the school around 6:20 pm

If you're picking your student up from practice, please plan on being at Ft. Lowell by 6:10 pm

Continue to send your best shaved and taper times.

Next weeks meet line-up should be available by Monday next week.

  • The Test Set is Wednesday 8/25 during our first Mandatory Wednesday practice.

Meet Entry Limit:

If injured or unable to practice due to injury

  • Students that are injured either at practice or elsewhere or are frequently unable to complete a practice or portion of a practice due to an injury will need to see the CFHS Athletic Trainer (Ms. Rachel Grimes) to be cleared for practice and competition.

Entries for the Wolves Invitational (now called the Croswhite Invitational) are due soon! Be sure to sent your PR’s and entry wish-list ASAP

From Coach on August 16th, 2021

Falcons,

We’re off to a great start with our fundraiser, but I’ve recently been informed that we need to change some of our wording and how we solicit folks for sales. It seems that the school board gave our boosters permission for a parent / booster led fundraiser, but not student led. So, please abide by the following:

  • This is supposed to be parent driven, meaning your parents are supposed to be soliciting your friends, family and neighbors for sales.

  • Students shouldn’t be going door-to-door for the card sales. Even if it’s a family friend, your parents should be the point of contact.

  • Parents can put it on their social media pages and promote the fundraiser for our team.

Sorry for any confusion.

See you at the Pool!
