What is the Bible Formation Course?
The Bible Formation Course has been run from the Christian Family Centre since 2021, with slight adjustments each year resulting in some variances in session presenters and session content from year to year.
The CFC Bible Formation Course has been developed as a ministry training tool to equip current and emerging ministry leaders with a robust understanding of the Bible to empower participants to discuss the Bible in their local ministry settings (e.g. life group leading, youth and children’s ministry, worship leading, etc.).
The course is also intended to cultivate a personal passion for the Bible and to increase participants’ confidence in navigating the Bible, studying the Bible, and applying the Bible to day-to-day life.
The teaching philosophy is to use daily videos to impart to students the content of the Bible (e.g. what happens in each book of the Bible) and allowing instructors to use the weekly sessions for deeper dives into key moments or to work though how to read the applicable type of Biblical literature.
Further information on how the course has been run at Seaton CFC is available in the Session 1 page.
Notes for Churches looking to run their own Bible Formation Course using this website resource:
This website was originally developed as a living repository for session notes, session recordings and bonus material for use by students, with new content being added to some session pages each year if/as required.
An opportunity has been identified to make this webpage resource available to other CRC churches so that variations of this course can be tailored and run by other churches. The CFC Bible Formation presenters welcome this opportunity and are happy for the session notes to be used beyond the original intended audience.
In 2021 and 2022 the sessions were recorded for the purposes of members of each cohort being able to catch-up on sessions if they were unable to attend on the night. The presenters had tailored their presentation of the course content for each specific cohort (and had encouraged group participation conscious that recordings were intended for the benefit of their classmates only).
In this context, access to session recordings has been restricted at present. CFC are open to making recordings available on request for instructors looking for examples on how to run Bible Formation sessions. However, it is requested that instructors do not play the recordings to a larger audience.
If you would like to request access to recordings, or if you would like to discuss any elements of the course, please contact lachyd@familycentre.org.au.
