I work on political economics and long-term development from a multi-disciplinary, theoretical and empirical, perspective. 

I am interested, in understanding the interactions between political institutions, market integration, demography, and cultural values; I also worked on the implications of exposure to human pathogens for institutions, conflicts, and socio-economic outcomes.
