Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Add-On Courses/Certificate Courses
This SOP is applicable to the Add-On Courses/Certificate Courses to be introduced in Panigaon OPD College, Lakhimpur from the academic session 2022 - 2023. These procedures are meant to guide and be used by all stakeholders for smoothly running the Add-On Courses/Certificate Courses.
1. Introduction: The Add-On Courses/Certificate Courses is a new addition along with the regular degree programme as suggested by Institutional Preparedness for National Education Policy 2020 Committee constituted by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Panigaon OPD College. It aims to mould the students with employable skills. These job-oriented courses are designed to equip the students to face the emerging challenges in the job market.
2. Course Coordinator: The existing HoD will be the course coordinator for the programme. However, the HoD can entrust any senior faculty member as course coordinator from his/her department if s/he so desires. If any Add-On Course(s)/Certificate Course(s) is/are jointly offered, then the HoDs of the departments who are offering the courses will be the joint coordinator.
3. Admission Process: The admission process is to be conducted by the concerned course coordinator in consultation with the college authority. The minimum educational qualification to get admission into the add-on courses/Certificate Courses shall be 12th pass in any stream. There is no age bar of the applicant for enrolment into the Add-On Courses/Certificate Courses. Students from institutions other than from Panigaon OPD College can also be enrolled in the courses.
4. Intake Capacity of Students: The minimum intake capacity for Add-On Courses/Certificate Courses is 10 students and maximum is 50 students considering the existing infrastructure of the college.
5. Fee Structure: One time admission fee for Add-On Courses/Certificate Courses from applicants is ₹200 per student per courses and Monthly Class Fees is Rs. 100/- only.
6. Academic Process: The course coordinator will prepare the syllabus, duration of the courses and number of credits allotted for each course. The class time-table for theory and practical (where applicable) will be prepared by the course coordinator in consultation with the master time-table of the college. He or she will be responsible for curriculum delivery and maintaining the attendance of students.
7. Time-Table & Schedule of Classes: The classes are to be conducted 2 days per week. The classes for the Add-On Courses/Certificate Courses will start from 2 PM onwards.
8. Evaluation Process:
The assessment is to be done as per the prevailing credit based system for both theory and practical. Minimum 60% attendance is compulsory for issuance of certificate.
A. In semester assessment (any one mode)
i. Project work on any related topics
ii. Seminar presentation
iii. Written tests
B. The End-Semester examination. It will be conducted for both theory and p r a c t i c a l p a p e r s ( w h e re v e r necessary) and the weightage of marks will depend on the duration of the courses.
There shall be 40% marks for internal assessment and 60% marks for end-semester examination in each courses. A candidate shall be declared passed a course, provided he/she secures at least 40% of marks in the course. The course coordinator will be in charge of the examinations. The prevailing grading system will be adopted to issue the certificate. The issuance of mark-sheets/grade-sheets and the course completion certificate will be the responsibility of the course coordinator after verification by the principal of the college.
The following scale of grading system shall be applied to indicate the performance of students in terms of letter grade and grade points:

A+ Excellent 9 Marks securing above 80- 90%
A Very Good 8 Marks securing above 70%- 80-%
B+ Good 7 Marks securing above 60%- 70%
B Above Average 6 Marks securing above 50%- 60%
P Pass 5 Marks securing above 40% - 50%
F Fail 0 Marks securing bellow 40%

9. Faculty Members: The existing faculty members of the college will take classes of the Add-On Courses/Certificate Courses without any remuneration. The part-time faculty members of the college will be treated as guest faculty for the Add-on courses and paid accordingly. The guest faculty (if appointed) will be paid remuneration per class or for the entire course as per the existing norms.
10. Infrastructure: The existing college infrastructure like classrooms, library, office etc. will be utilized for conducting the proposed Add-On Courses/Certificate Courses.
11. Register of Records: The Course coordinator will maintain a register and document all the records relating to the Add-On Courses/Certificate Courses.
12. Publicity: The publicity of the Add-On Courses/Certificate Courses will be done by uploading in the college website and banner displaying in and around the college.
