"Escape" directly follows the events of a dream flashback in The Havoc Unveils., when Echo and Inferno have just met each other. Echo is nervous and shy, just learning how to make friends after the disappearance of two family members, while Inferno doesn't see past a new friend to explore the world with, and has to learn that not every cerrien sees the world through his eyes. 

When the enthusiastic kitten finds a dark cloud hanging over his new friend, Inferno's world is flipped upside down, and he realizes he has to use his bravery to plunge himself out of the life he has always known, to help.
